Hyper Olympic Jumping Type Title

Hyper Olympic Jumping Type (where did they come up with that name?!) by Bandai is loosely based on the classic arcade game "Track & Field", which is one of everyone's favorites. Unlike T&F, this game has 2 events that you compete in: Long Jump and High Jump.

The handheld! You start the game by competing in the Long Jump event, and have 3 chances to qualify (6m50). If you qualify, you get moved to the High Jump event.

In the high jump event, you have to jump over 2m00 to qualify (which I haven't been able to do yet). After that, I don't yet know what happens, but I'd imagine the game would start over with higher qualifying numbers.

The Buttons The action is controlled by 2 buttons. One button runs (there are 2 different run buttons, and you can use either one), and a Start/Jump button. Much like the original T&F game, this one is a button beater. You have to quickly press the Run button to get up enough speed. Then, at the last minute, jump and hold the Jump button to acheive the correct trajectory. In addition, there are graphics for the "Try" you are on and a ref. to tell you when you've "faulted".

Overall, this is one of my favorite handhelds to play! It's got enough challenge so that I can't yet qualify on the Long Jump every time, but it's not frustratingly hard. If you get a chance to pick this one up, I highly suggest it!
